As Above, So Below is an exhibition of recent work by Ella West, a London based artist exploring the boundaries of between painting, site specific installation and sculpture. Her work deals with themes of landscape in relation to scale, distance and space. 'As Above, So Below' refers to an ancient hermetic saying that approaches ideas of the microcosm and macrocosm. The microcosm is oneself, and the macrocosm is the universe. The microcosm and the macrocosm are parallel and through understanding one, man may understand the other. Drawing connections between the surfaces of foreign planets and our own land here on Earth, Ella West looks to present an awareness of our environment balanced within a much larger order.
