about Ana Cláudia de Assis
Ana Cláudia de Assis is a researcher and performer for contemporary music. She has premiered many works by well-known South American and European composers such as Jonathan Harvey, Toru Takemitsu, Almeida Prado, Guerra-Peixe, Eunice Katunda, Hans-Joachim Koellreutter, Dante Grela, Sílvio Ferraz, João Pedro Oliveira, among others.
She has participated in many important festivals such as: Bienais da Música Brasileira; Festival Brasilianischer Musik (Germany); Encontros de Compositores e Intérpretes Latino-Americanos (Brasil); Autumn Festivals (Portugal); Rencontre Internationale de Musiques Electroacoustiques (Monaco); Ai-Maako Festival Internacional de Música Electroacústica (Chile). She recorded several cds with Brazilian and international contemporary music: O Som de Almeida Prado; Panorâmica da Criação Musical em Belo Horizonte; Música dodecafônica para piano de César Guerra-Peixe; Música de Câmara de Guilherme Nascimento; Entre o Ar e a Perfeição: Obras de João Pedro Oliveira; Mosaic: Obras de João Pedro Oliveira.
Together with Luciane Cardassi they form the Duo CardAssiS, dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary 4-hands piano music.
Ana Cláudia also works as a pianist at the Oficina Música Viva new music ensemble, formed with the purpose of promoting contemporary music through concerts, conferences, recordings and masterclasses.
She is Associate Professor at the University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), where she teaches piano, history of Brazilian music, and contemporary music interpretation.
Listhus artists in residence present a multi-disciplinary exhibition of work created during the dark winter, featuring individual reflections on local encounters, mysterious landscapes and indoor living in North Iceland.
Please join us for an evening of video screenings, live performance, studio viewings and the gallery show opening on January 16.
On January 21, Anton Benois and Beth Dillon will host a community buffet in the Listhus gallery to celebrate the return of the sun to Olafsfjordur. A feast of yellow-coloured foods will be provided. All welcome.
